As they searched the room, Destruction noticed a book lying on the table. He picked it up and flipped through the pages.
"It looks like some kind of journal," he said, showing it to his siblings. "And it's written in code."
Destiny took the book and examined it closely. "This is interesting," he said. "The code is a variation of one that was used by a secret society in 18th-century France."
Delirium peered over his shoulder. "Ooh, secret society! I like secrets," she said.
The Sandman looked at the book thoughtfully. "I have a feeling that this could be connected to our murder mystery," he said.
They spent the next several hours deciphering the code and reading the journal. As they did, they began to piece together the mystery.
"It looks like our victim was involved in some kind of smuggling ring," Destiny said.
"And someone wanted to shut him up," added Destruction.
"But who could it be?" asked Delirium.
The Sandman looked at his siblings. "I think we need to do some more investigating," he said. "But first, let's get some rest. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow."
As they settled into their beds, each lost in thought, they knew that the mystery was far from over. But they also knew that they were the only ones who could solve it. They were the Endless, after all, and nothing could stand in their way.
