AI Writing: They Both Die at the End

Writing Prompt: Write a new tv script for "They Both Die at the End", by Adam Silvera

FADE IN:

EXT. NEW YORK CITY - DAY

We see a shot of New York City skyline from above. The camera slowly zooms in on a bustling street below.

CUT TO:

INT. APARTMENT - DAY

A young man named Mateo is lying in bed, staring at his phone. He's scrolling through an app called "Last Friend" that connects people who will die within the next 24 hours. He's nervous and anxious about what's to come.

Mateo's phone rings, and he hesitates before answering it.

MATEO (voice trembling) Hello?

The voice on the other end belongs to a bubbly and optimistic teenager named Rufus.

RUFUS Hey, Mateo! It's Rufus from Last Friend. I saw that you don't have any plans for today, and I thought we could hang out.

MATEO (surprised) Hang out?

RUFUS Yeah, why not? It's our last day, and we might as well make the most of it, right?

Mateo hesitates for a moment before agreeing to meet Rufus.

CUT TO:

INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY

Mateo and Rufus are sitting across from each other, sipping coffee and talking.

RUFUS So, what's something you've always wanted to do but never got the chance?

MATEO (pensive) I've always wanted to try skydiving.

RUFUS (grinning) Skydiving it is! Let's go!

CUT TO:

EXT. SKYDIVING CENTER - DAY

Mateo and Rufus are suited up and ready to go skydiving. Mateo is clearly nervous, but Rufus is excited and encouraging.

RUFUS You ready for this, Mateo?

MATEO (nervously) I don't know...

RUFUS Come on, it's going to be amazing!

They board the plane, and we see a shot of them skydiving through the air. Mateo is terrified at first, but as they fall, he starts to feel a sense of liberation and freedom.

CUT TO:

INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY

We see Mateo lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to machines. Rufus is sitting next to him, holding his hand.

MATEO (tearfully) I don't want to go.

RUFUS (sadly) I know, Mateo. But at least we got to have this day together.

MATEO (sadly) Yeah, I guess you're right.

RUFUS (smirking) Hey, at least we didn't die in a coffee shop, right?

Mateo chuckles weakly, and Rufus smiles at him.

FADE OUT.
