Chapter One: The Arrival
As Marie Antoinette lay in her cell, awaiting her execution, Death of the Endless appeared before her. Marie Antoinette was initially startled, but quickly realized who had come to visit her.
"Death," Marie Antoinette whispered. "I have been expecting you."
"I am here to guide you to your next journey," Death said, her voice gentle and reassuring.
Marie Antoinette nodded, accepting her fate. "I am ready."
Chapter Two: The Memories
As Death took Marie Antoinette's hand, she saw the memories of her life play out before her eyes. She saw Marie Antoinette's childhood in Austria, her marriage to Louis XVI, and her rise to power as the Queen of France. She saw the extravagant parties, the political intrigue, and the eventual downfall of the monarchy.
"I have made many mistakes," Marie Antoinette said, her voice filled with regret.
Death placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We all make mistakes, Marie. It is what we do with them that counts."
Chapter Three: The Regret
As they walked through the halls of the prison, Marie Antoinette felt a deep sense of regret. She regretted the way she had treated the common people, the excesses she had indulged in, and the way she had failed as a leader.
"I wish I could go back and do things differently," Marie Antoinette said, tears streaming down her face.
Death paused, looking at Marie Antoinette with compassion. "I cannot change the past, Marie. But I can offer you peace in the present."
Chapter Four: The Release
As they reached the place of execution, Marie Antoinette's hands shook with fear. Death held her close, whispering words of comfort and solace. And as the blade fell, Marie Antoinette felt a sudden release. She was free from the burdens of her life, free from the pain and suffering that had plagued her for so long.
"I am at peace," Marie Antoinette said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Death nodded. "Yes, you are. And now, you are ready for your next journey."
Chapter Five: The Afterlife
As they stepped into the afterlife, Death showed Marie Antoinette the beauty and wonder of the realm beyond. She saw the souls of those who had gone before her, and she felt a sense of calm and acceptance. Death smiled at her, knowing that she had done her job well.
"You have found peace, Marie," Death said, her voice soft and kind.
Marie Antoinette smiled back, feeling a sense of gratitude for Death's guidance. "Thank you. I am ready for what comes next."
And as Death watched her fade into the ether, she knew that Marie Antoinette had found the peace and acceptance that she had been searching for all her life.
Epilogue:
As Death of the Endless returned from guiding Marie Antoinette to the afterlife, she sensed a familiar presence nearby. Turning around, she saw her siblings: Dream, Delirium, Despair, and the Doctor.
"Hello, Death," Dream said, his voice calm and measured.
Delirium skipped forward, a smile on her face. "Hiya, big sis! How was it?"
Death nodded, her expression solemn. "It was as it always is. Painful, yet necessary."
Despair stepped forward, her dark eyes gleaming. "Did you find any solace in her passing?"
Death considered her words. "Yes. She found peace in the end, as we all do."
The Doctor stepped forward, his eyes shining with intelligence. "Death, what comes next?"
Death looked at him, knowing that he was always seeking answers to the biggest questions. "What comes next is up to the individual. Each journey is unique, and each soul must find their own path."
Dream smiled gently. "But know that we are always here to guide and support you, Death. You are never alone."
Death felt a sense of gratitude wash over her, knowing that her siblings were always there for her. "Thank you, Dream. Thank you all."
And as they turned to leave, Death knew that even in the face of the inevitable, there was always love and support to be found.
The end.
